Über mich

Things get pretty hectic around here (as many of you yourselves know) and the time I have to 'create' is very precious for me. It is also a way in which I can relax and take time out for me.

I'm a native New Zealander living in Portugal for the past 6 years. I have 3 children and they certainly keep me occupied ... they also provide inspiration from time to time!

I've always been making or painting things since I can remember ... even as far back as kindergarten (oh dear)!

Sigmosaics is how I am known amongst my customers here in Portugal coupled with the fact it is also the name of my website ... therefore I decided to also use this name for my Etsy shop. My children provided the inspiration for the 'Sig' part ... it's their initials!

I adore making my magnets, a bit of an obsession really .. I love bright and colorful things and I think that is reflected in many items within my shop.

Alas, over recent months I have not had time nor opportunity to be in my mosaic workshop BUT school has finally started again so over the coming months I plan to change all that!

You'll find that I use many recycled items and I try to think of different ways I can turn them into a unique item. I love to work with clay, paper, cork, wood, foam, nature, tiles .. there's an unlimited supply of materials really.

As I try to recycle as much as possible, packaging often consists of re-used boxes, bubble wrap etc. In saying that, the items are shipped and wrapped nicely/attractively!!
