Über mich

Mi chiamo Erika e sono una mosaicista.
Sono nata a Venezia nel 1974 e dopo essermi diplomata al Liceo Artistico di Padova col massimo dei voti, ho studiato alla prestigiosa Scuola di Mosaico di Spilimbergo, dove ho svolto il mio apprendistato e mi sono diplomata nel 1999.

I miei strumenti sono quelli tradizionali: martellina e tagliolo, con i quali taglio artigianalmente tutti i materiali, dando loro la dimensione e la forma che desidero.

I collanti sono per uso professionale, di qualità certificata.

Vivo il mosaico come tecnica artistica intermedia tra pittura e scultura ma soprattutto come linguaggio, al fine di comunicare all’osservatore un percorso emozionale e sensoriale, stimolando in esso una curiosità tattile, oltre che visiva, verso le mie opere.

Miro ad esaltare la caratteristica distintiva della tecnica, ossia la vibrazione luminosa della superficie, talvolta esagerandone volutamente i dislivelli, allettando le tessere nella malta con pressioni differenti, così da aumentare quel processo di assorbimento, riflessione, rimandi, rimbalzi di luce che generano movimento e rendono viva e pulsante questa superficie.

My name is Erika and I’m from Italy: I make mosaics.
I was born in Venice in 1974.
After graduating at an artistic high school (Liceo Artistico) in Padua with the highest pass,
I attended the eminent School of Mosaic in Spilimbergo, where I had my apprenticeship and graduated in 1999.

My tools are traditional: the “martellina” and the “tagliolo”, with which I cut all the materials on my own, giving them the size and shape I want.

The adhesives are for professional use, of certified quality (don’t worry: nothing will come off!).

I live the mosaic as an artistic technique between painting and carving, but overall as a language, with the aim to communicate an emotional and sensory path and stimulate a tactile as well as visual curiosity for my works (even the smallest ones!) in the observer.

My aim is to extol the distinctive feature of this technique: the bright vibration of the surface, sometimes deliberately exaggerating the unevenness, putting the tesserae into the mortar with different pressures, in a way to speed up the process of absorption, reflection, “bounce” of light which generate movement and make this surface brilliant and “pulsating”.
