Über mich

Spinifex was established by Sam Morgan in 2004 after a year spent travelling some of the richest and poorest parts of the world. As a furniture design graduate with experience working for a designer and manufacturer he wanted to produce his own work based on a sensitive approach towards design and the environment. Towards this end Spinifex adopts a designer/maker position with a view to enlarge but keep manufacture in-house. Spinifex uses seven key words:

RECYCLE – use reclaimed or reprocessed material.
SUSTAIN – Use materials that can be produced and disposed of with minimal impact
LIFE CYCLE – Within the design consider the manufacture, life span and disposal of the object.
ETHICS – Produce locally or trade fairly from overseas.
ENVIRONMENT – Consider the global village before taking action.
STIMULATE – Don't keep it to yourself pass on the knowledge.
THINK – Find your own shade of green!

They apply to materials, manufacture, purchase, use and disposal of an object. Incorporated alongside this is a view that objects should be interacted with rather than owned. Instead of passive consumerism there is ‘Think for your self furniture'.
